Crown Prince Aldorf walked into Tarentol with a bodyguard to talk to the Drott. We stayed at the guard house to talk to Eirikr. Balian offered if anyone wanted to wear his armor, he didn’t think he wanted to wear it as it made him feel more vulnerable. Bronin is going to wear it.

We headed back to the tavern and Balian and Pijack started drinking again. They and Skeld start challenging each other to acrobatic feats.

Philosophical discussion regarding loyalty and the consequences of who/what you decide to be loyal to ensues with Skeld, Erfidi and Mollie.

Eirkir asks if we’re going to be leaving. He reminds us that we do still have a time limit to get back into Boar territory. He thinks we’re about as safe as can reasonably be with Prince Aldorf here. He’s going to go ahead and head back to Laurelsong and leave the rooms he had for us. He’s especially worried about if the King has started heading our way with an army.

Erfidi has a conversation with him and says thank you for coming to save them. She didn’t realize he still even thought about her. He said that he does and he is glad that she has Skeld, someone she knows from the past. He offers to take a message to the king, but sincere he refused to see her when they were in Laurelsong, she says she has nothing to say to him. He, Cambrin and Dellog leave Tarentol.

Thorkatla buys arrows and Balian gets his axe repaired. (Balian pays 2 silver).

Bronin looks for a library/books and finds a book named Sago’s Guide of Extraordinary Creatures. Contains information about observed variations on normal creatures (like bears with wings). He bought it for 3 silver. (DM will provide more information on it next session).

Bronin bought a drum for 2 silver, Erfidi bought a flute for 2 silver.

We all gathered in the Tavern again and rested for the night. Erfidi, Thorkatla and Mollie rested in Eirikr’s room and the guys split Cambrin’s and Dellog’s rooms.

In the morning, we head out of Tarentol. (The army is still outside, but doesn’t interfere with us). Piejack comes with us. He has a mug that he seems to have stolen from the tavern.

We crossed the red waters of the Blood Ice River. (Sediment in the mountains causes the water and ice to be red). Skeld opens the box he received from his mom as soon as we crossed into Boar clan territory. Held closed by a small clasp, padded inside. There is a stone about 6 inches long. It has markings on it (see Skeld’s runestone image). It looks just like Bronin’s (see Bronin’s runestone image) except with a different rune.

As the two runestones get close to each other, there is a slight hum. Bronin remembers that the first time he stood in the presence of Jokul with his runestone, the same thing happened.

In the evening, Skeld moves a bit away from everyone and starts doing a ritual, a white dome comes up and he calls everyone in. It’s warm inside and no one can comes in unless he allows it. Transparent from inside. We all set up our bedrolls in the “hut”.

Skeld casts identify on his Runestone. He learned that it is a magic item, it “maybe/sort of” has to be attuned. Does not get any indication that there are any spells affecting it. When he gets to the part where it would reveal it’s specific functions, he gets a mind full of fog, but the markings on it glow. (See image Skeld’s Runestone(Glowing) image) When the spell ends, they fade back to not glowing. Skeld puts it on.

He casts identify on Bronin’s Runestone. He gets the same information and it glows as well (See image Bronin’s Runestone(Glowing)). He has seen it glow before.

He casts identify on Balian’s original ring. (Mollie had said before that the writing on it said “And these two eyes”, but that this was like a sentence fragment. (There were the equivalent of ellipses at the beginning and end)). The ring has glowed before and is the reason he was sent to the Boar clan. It was not created by a spell. It is magical. When he tries to learn it’s function and purpose, it’s jumbled together and images that don’t stay in his head long, but the best he can come up with is the ability to sense life.

He casts identify on the necklace from Thorkatla’s mom and says it is not magical and has not had any spells cast on it.

We have an uneventful night and start heading home the next morning. In the afternoon we start seeing the buildings showing we’re almost to Greenmoot. It has been 21 days since we left Laurelsong.

Pijack is surprised about how small the village is and how few Boar clan members there are with how scared everyone is of us.

Mollie seems to like it.

A lot of activity is going on in Greenmoot. We head straight to the Jarl, who is in the midst of all the activity along with her Justice (Fulrigg). Thin layer of snow still on everything.

We introduce the Jarl to Mollie and Pijack and tell her everything that’s happened to us on our journey. She’s not thrilled about the mindwalker being out there and the loss of our carts.

The jarl starts to catch us up on what has happened while we were gone. She’s instructed Ilda to start creating various potions and drinks to help deal with the Corsica when the big ones wake up and come to avenge the little ones that have died. The potions will heal wounds and help with combat abilities. Astril and Kilbe are out gathering berries for making the potions, but we don’t have a large number of bottles (and can’t make them). We don’t have permission to go out to buy bottles and the merchant that passes through town occasionally may not come anytime soon and may not have enough bottles either.

We discuss the possibility of making a moat around the village and maybe making bottles out of clay from the river.

Jarl shows Mollie and Pijack their bunks.

(Aside) Over the next few sessions, we’re going to fast forward through a couple months so we need to start thinking about what we want to do over this time like small projects.

Bronin –
Going to talk to Pijack about places he’s seen, things he’s seen, etc. He’s basically just documenting everything. Pijack tells him about many, many journeys just traveling and drinking. He talks about human settlements, places that get raided (seen a few raids and actually got taken in one which is how he got to the clans). He talks about the fortress in the mountain (with a tunnel through the mountain) built by the Falconeers, a small nation/guild to the south. This is the group that usually shuts things down if there’s too much raiding going on. He talks about dwarf cities, elf cities and the “fair folk” or halflings. He’s been to a gnome town once, that was wall to wall libraries and boring to him. He’s been to spiritual temples and monistaries as well as barbarian villages.

He’s going to study Skeld’s rune (notices the silhouette is exactly the same as his), the rings. He goes up to see Jokul to look at his rune again. Sield goes with him. He’s surrounded by leather. As they walk up, all three of their runestones begin to glow. (See image Jokul’s Runestone(Glowing)). Skeld tells Jokul where he got his runestone from (the wife of a traveling merchant that used to come through the Stag clan when he was a child, brought it to Skeld’s mother for him and said he should not open it until he was in Boar clan.) Jokul tells him if it ever compels him to do anything, he should ignore it. He says his compels him to sit out there in the middle of nothing and look what that has gotten him. His runestone appeared when he was a baby in the bed his parents had made for him and they didn’t know where it came from.

They all lay their runestones on the ground together and it makes exactly half of a circle. He says it hasn’t changed over time. Bronin asks if he was able to make anything from the fox skins we had brought, but he says he has not, but he will see what he can make.

As they are standing around, they feel an odd feeling coming from the runestones. It seems to be getting a little warmer and they’re feeling the warmth spreading throughout their bodies. Jokul thinks they like being close together. Bronin offers to take Jokul’s stone, but he says he thinks he’s supposed to have it.

Jokul says he’s been warned about the Corsica by the Jarl, but he’s going to stay where he is.

That night, Bronin and Skeld have vivid dreams and they get the distinct impression that they’re experiencing other people’s memories. They can’t remember any specifics when they wake up, but they feel slightly changed. Skeld received Inspiring Leader feat (he can spend 10 min inspiring us and can choose 6 creatures including himself to gain temporary HP equal to his level + cha modifier). Bronin received an ability that each time he casts a heal spell, it will heal for an additional 5 hp per target per level of the spell. Additional spells you cast until the end of your next turn heal for 0.

Going to talk to Mollie about her grandfather, and her grandfather’s book. He finds her in the forest. She gets chores to do every day, but in her free time she’s been going out and spending time in the forest. He finds her staring at one of the trees that has a rune carved in it. She says she likes the trees here because they have glowing words written in them. Bronin asks if she can read it. She says she can and it seems to be magical words and maybe even magical spells. She takes his quill and fills the book with little symbols and writing that he can’t read. She says she thinks all the trees have it (even the ones that don’t have the glowing runes) and she hasn’t found anything repeated.

He asks about her grandfather and the book and she says he doesn’t want her to talk about it too much but she can talk about it some.

He’s going to spend time over the next few weeks researching the runes she’s written down for him.

Balian –
Talks to Jarl Agatha about the possibility of relocating the Boar clan to the fox clan burrows for defensibility. She says there is not really anything to make it better as there is food and water and forest already where the Boar clan is living and history has shown that it wasn’t defensable.

Thorkatla asks the Jarl why the Corsica haven’t come to fight yet and she says it’s most likely because the larger ones haven’t come out of hibernation yet. She says there are probably 100-200 including the little ones. Doesn’t really seem like it would be possible to take them out while they’re sleeping.

Thorkatla asks what can be done to help with the potions and preparing for the village defense. Jarl says gathering would be helpful and teaching some of the Boar clan members how to defend themselves and the village. Balian can help with smithing and training people as well. They ask Bronin to help keeping track of what people can do, what abilities they have that could be useful for defense.

Thorkatla and Bronin start spreading the word that they will be giving lessons to anyone that wants to learn and finding out who has what experience and magical abilities. (They end up with 7 magic users – seem to all be sorcerers, 16 warriors)

Once a day, we notice Mollie flies around in the air and seems to have fun.

Erfidi –
Build moat – organize teenagers to gather sticks to sharpen along the edge of the moat. Leave one bridge of land through the moat on west side and south side.

Practice my spells with Mollie – Mollie shows her frogs, Hip and Hop, now each have two tongues that can wrap around something and pull on it. Fireball has no problem, but when I use Thunder Step, our fingertips turn black and are in pain. She says grandfather says this type of magic is not for us. “It makes the meat taste bitter”. She leaves and heads back to the village. I try casting it without her and the same thing happens to my fingertips. Ulf tries removing curses from me and I teleport again and I get the black fingertips. Skeld casts Identify on me to see if I’m affected by spells and finds none.

Mollie says grandfather says it’s whenever you step between spaces and the farther you go, the worse the effects are.

Jarl Agatha does not know of anyone who has ever had this type of ability.

Every night Erfidi goes back to her bunk and draws sketches of Prince Aldorf.

Skeld-
Goes to talk to Jarl Agatha in private. He tells her that there’s something that’s been bothering him. He says that it’s no secret that he didn’t want to come to the Boar clan. He was sent on the mission with the group and there were things that happened that made him think that his actions had endangered people. We fought the snakes, we helped in the slave pens and he apparently pissed off the Jarl with something he did. (Jarl comments that everything pisses him off).

He recounts meeting the Jarl’s justice and how she thought he was the leader, when he’s not. When he came back, he had a vivid dream that didn’t seem to be his own memories, again implying to him a sense of his own leaderships, when he doesn’t feel that he is a leader, he is more of a source of entertainment and inspiration for the group. He is thinking of leaving the clans entirely and heading to the south.

She tells him that he would have it much worse in the south with his magical abilities. He says he could have hidden them much longer but it was to save someone that he showed them.

She says we may have some moments in the very near future that the Boar clan will be looking to anyone for leadership. Especially with things like the imminent Corsica clan attacks. She says she’s not sure she believes in destiny but it could be there’s something he’s meant for. Skeld says he has been told this before. They discuss that perhaps there is no difference between destiny and impossibility. That could be that his life could have gone no other way because of the person he is.

Skeld looks for the people that are having trouble with the larger weapons and teaching them finesse. Pijack is suddenly next to him. Asks if Skeld wants to come to the river where he thinks Erfidi is taking a bath. Skeld tells him Erfidi is like a sister and he’s going to prevent him from doing that. Instead he tries to get him to come to help with training people.

Pijack has been making ale and the first few batches have come out to the equivalent in quality of Trollsplitter ale.

Ulf (Grokthis) –
Meditates to try to alleviate night terrors.
Practices hunting and is able to hunt down quite a few boars, he gets 10 of the smaller boars and 1 of the dires that he brings back to the village for meat, hides, leather, etc. People seem to be taking to him more kindly and not shunning him so much because of the tattoo and start to instead see him as someone who can provide for the clan/contribute.

On one of his hunting forays into the forest, he comes across Astril and Kilbe. They don’t really stop, but they do say hi to him.

Life continues on for about a month, when one morning Skeld awakens to see Pijack standing over him. He says Skeld has to wake up, there’s Stag clan soldiers here. He says they’ve brought two more “pilgrims”. Skeld runs over.

Stag clan guards are standing outside Jarl Agatha’s hut. Guard says they have a couple more citizens for the clan. Skeld goes inside and Jarl Agatha is sitting inside with two people. There is a creature that looks a little bit (size wise) like Pijack – Zanvyn Pato – he is a gnome. He is dressed neatly, but drab looking. The other person is a young (maybe late teens, early 20s) red head girl. It’s Skeld’s sister Gudrun. Skeld asks what they caught her doing. She said she’s been working in the healing houses and sometimes they don’t always have the herbs and leaves that they need so she was growing them faster.

Jarl was telling them about what we’ve been doing around the Boar clan recently. Zanvyn was caught using magic to defend himself. He was captured in a slaving raid. He seems acerbic and unhappy to be here unsurprisingly.

Everyone but Thorkatla gave up their bands from the king to the guards before they left.

Jarl took them to their bunks, Gudrun will bunk with Thorkatla, Mollie, and Erfidi.
