Inside the chamber, there were four walls of thick ice and a cracked icy floor. The plate armor on the reptilian creature was shiny and looked like it would have taken an artisan 10 years to make it.

Stonecraw called him the Thane.

The teeth of the creature in the ice were the size of a man, the ribcage was the size of a longhouse. There was a faint glow around him, but otherwise no signs of life.

The Cobalt Crusade Thane charged at us.

The Thane seemed to have legendary abilities and a complete immunity to lightning damage.

Stonecraw and Balian both ate some ice on the floor for a while, but we were able to bring down the Thane. He was carrying a canteen, a food pouch, his plate armor and the huge spear. Sigurd gathered everything up to take with us and Skeld said he would identify it later.

The weapon was a +1 Arcing (1d6 lightning with every attack) halberd/glaive. As a magic item, it needed to be carried around for 24 hours before it would execute its magic effect on attack. Balian would be taking it and using it as a halberd.

Stonecraw knelt down in front of the frozen dragon.

He told us that this was the leader of the crusade, the strongest. The others shouldn’t be this strong, but there are 7 others.

The armor was +1 plate armor and very expensive based on the ornate work put into it. Sigurd took it to wear and Bronin inherited his old +1 Scale mail. We will later try to sell the chain shirt that Bronin was wearing.

In all the armor swapping, Skeld came to the realization that it benefits him to make Sigurd harder. So that will now be his side quest for all time.

Stonecraw said the second godshead was broken by the cobalt crusade doing the same thing the Thane was doing and once they got to the “dragon” (what Stonecraw was calling the godshead) it crumbled and the iceberg started sinking.

He said that there are more crusaders for us to kill and he knew that they have a camp on the edge of the lake.

We dumped the dead thane into the lake and then took a rest inside the cavern in the middle of the iceberg.

When we came back out of the iceberg, Erfidi tried to melt some ice from the ceiling and refreeze it to block the entrance to the cavern.

The middle iceberg had sunk completely and there was no more fog. We could see 100-200 of the boats floating on the lake and sitting on the shores. We took the boat to try to head to shore so we could try to sneak up on their camp.

The lake was about 2 miles from east to west and 1 mile north to south.

The camp was out in a clearing (about 300 yards from the last good cover). Thorkatla and Skeld scouted ahead and saw about a half dozen of the blue crusaders in their camp.

Skeld made Thorkatla invisible and she was able to get closer to see into the camp. Amidst a half dozen blue stretched tents, there were barrels, crates and fire pits with cooking fires. There was also a pile of lumber that had been organized in stacks. One of the crusaders was making rafts, another was disemboweling and flaying one of the korsca on a completed raft. There was a pile of dead korsca next to him.

Four of the crusaders were wearing plate armor, a fifth was dressed in a robe and was studying a large tome sitting on a stone stand, big enough for one book.

She also saw some footprints that didn’t seem to belong to them. They look like they belonged to a small humanoid wearing shoes.

The group discussed trying to wait until the crusaders went to sleep and then to try to take the book. The book seemed to be about 15 pounds.

Skeld put up his hut and we sneak attacked all of the crusaders in the camps.

We learned that the Cobalt Crusade is immune to lightning damage and resistant to thunder damage. They all seemed to be able to heal themselves (plate wearers were paladins, robe wearer was a priest) and have some lightning damaging abilities like chain lightning or lightning breath.

Thorkatla used some of the darts from the Korsca and they were +3 poison damage.

There were some more deaths, but we were able to get all five of them dead with Erifidi lighting the last one on fire and disentigrating him to dust.

Next session we’ll go through the results of the battle including going through the items (plate armor, shiny potions on the priest’s belt, something smooth and round (dragonborn Orb) in the priest’s robes, the weapons, a very ornate chest in the camp, the shields some of the plate wearers were holding, the pedestal with the book, etc.
